Our History
ECCN (Evangelical Congregational Church of Nepal) emerged from a vision of mission and church planting that reached into eastern Nepal through the work of the Evangelical Congregational Church of India. This outreach marked the beginning of a movement that would grow into a network of local congregations across the region.
In the early stages of this mission, churches were planted in several communities, eventually forming ten churches. As the fellowship of believers increased, it became clear that a unified structure was needed to strengthen cooperation, leadership, and shared vision.
In June 2003, delegates from these churches gathered to establish a coordinated leadership structure for the growing work in Nepal. A team of five leaders was elected to guide the newly formed church conference. During this season, a central ministry hub was set up in Dharan, which served as a base for leadership development, training, and church support.
A major milestone came in January 2009, when ECCN was formally recognized as an independent international conference. Under the leadership of Director Rev. T. Janga, the church entered a new phase of self-governance and expanded ministry responsibility.
Today, ECCN continues to serve communities across Nepal through church planting, discipleship, and leadership training. Alongside spiritual growth, the church is actively engaged in practical ministries that support orphans, widows, and families facing hardship.
ECCN remains committed to its calling: to build Christ-centered communities and extend the Gospel through both proclamation and compassionate service.
